Global Consensus on Vitamin D Supplementation Protocols
The 2026 Global Consensus on Rickets Prevention provides standardized dosing to eliminate nutritional rickets:
Infants (0-12 months): 400 IU (10mcg) daily, starting from birth, regardless of whether they are breastfed or formula-fed.
Children (1-18 years): 600 IU (15mcg) daily, particularly in winter months.
Stoss Therapy: For children with active Rickets, 2026 protocols allow for "Stoss Therapy"—a single high dose (up to 300,000 IU) delivered orally or by injection for those unlikely to adhere to daily drops.
